Can Dream Creations register my domain name?
We will be happy to complete the registration process for you, based on the information you provide on the Domain Hosting Order Form.
Dream Creations' HostServer will be the technical/zone contact, and you can choose the administrative and billing contacts. Generally, the administrative contact is the person responsible for day-to day operations of your website, i.e., your Webmaster.
The billing contact should be the person responsible for payables in your organization. Please fill out all information completely. If you do not have a FAX, leave that entry blank.
How can I find out if the domain name I want is available?
Use our convenient domain name lookup tool.
Who will be the owner of the domain?
In every case, you will own your domain. There are really four parts to the registration;
the organization, the administrative contact, the technical/zone contact, and the billing contact.
The organizational info tells InterNIC who ultimately owns the domain. In the case of
joesbarbershop.com, this will usually be Joe, or the legal business equivalent (e.g. Joe's Barber Shop, Inc.).
The administrative contact is the person or entity who controls the day-to-day operation of the Web site.
This may be Joe, or it may be Joe's Webmaster.
The technical/zone contact -- Is the web host that carries the site, which will be listed under our hostserver, since we maintain the site's information on our name servers.
The billing contact is the person or department responsible for paying the InterNIC bill -- your bookkeeper or maybe the accounts receiveable department.
Please make sure that the mailing address and email are current, and that the bills from InterNIC are paid promptly.
InterNic will discontinue your site access to the entire world after a short grace period if the bill is not
paid. They will reinstate your domain once the bill has been paid and after a certain period if the bill
is still not paid, your domain will be available to the public for purchase. So again, make sure your
information with them is current!
I already have a domain name on someone else's server. Can I transfer it?
Yes. You must be the administrative or technical contact in order to do this.
Shortly after you fill in the online signup form, you will receive a request from InterNIC asking you
to acknowledge the move, provided you are listed as the administrative contact for the domain.
You should return this to InterNIC according to their instructions (place the letter A in line 0a).
If you aren't the administrative or technical contact, or if the e-Mail address is no longer valid, you
should FAX an authorization to the InterNIC.
Look here
for additional instructions on how to do this. Again, Dream Creations is happy to transfer your domain
at no additional charge.
How much does a domain name cost?
InterNIC will bill you $70 for the first two years' registration.
After that, you will be billed $35 per year (based on NetworkSolutions current rates). There is no
charge by to move a domain which has already been paid for, however, other many ISPs do charge for this
service. Also, many domains charge an annual fee to "maintain" your domain name.
Dream Creations host server does not charge such a fee.
Can I use a canonical domain, such as sales.mycompany.com?
Yes. (On Web Hosting BusinessPRO and E-commerce accounts only.) You can use as many
canonical domains as you like. What's more, these domains are free and automatic as long as they point
to your main index page. There is a $25 setup charge for each one that points any other directory
of your choosing within your Web space. (i.e., /htdocs/sales/), provided the directory is an integral
part of your site (not resold to a third party).
Can I use a dual domain, such as www.mycompany.com and mycompany.com?
Yes. This is setup free by default by Dream Creations. Many other providers either don't offer
this service or charge for it.
I'm not ready for a web site yet, but I want to reserve my domain name before someone else gets it. Can Dream Creations help?
Yes. It's a very good idea to reserve now, because InterNIC registers 150,000 domain names each and
every month. Why wait? Some hosting providers charge as much as $99 to register your domain
name and park it on their servers. We do that for free!
How can we give it away? It's simple. We want to introduce you to our
hosting services, and we're sure you'll be delighted with our responsiveness and
dedication to excellence. We're sure you'll want to host your web site with us once you're
ready.
So if you know you need a domain name, and you want to secure it before
someone else does, fill-in our on-line request form
and we'll submit your registration within minutes.
